Natural newborn photography in Leicestershire & Nottingham

A super relaxing newborn photography experience with siblings are on todays blog.

If you are a long time follower of my business, you will know by now that my photography focuses on capturing intimate, genuine moments and emotions of newborns and their families in a natural light and using gentle posing. All of my shoots are baby led which allows a stress free experience and no time limit on your photography session.

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of welcoming with family of 4 into my home studio based in the heart of Leicestershire. Having a home studio puts people at ease, especially toddlers and young children. I always say to my clients that my space becomes your space and nothing phases me.

Here are some key things to expect from your session with a toddler/another sibling

1. Have no expectations – sounds counter productive but unless your child is over 3 the chances are that they will have limited understanding of expectations.
2. Come prepared – bring snacks (low sugar – no one wants a sugar rush mid shoot), toys and books to help keep them occupied thorough out the session.
3. Discuss with them what is about to happen. I always guide clients in communicating to their older children about what to expect. Sometimes we forget children haven’t got the understanding we have or understand what’s about to happen so explaining in simple terms helps.
4. Trust your photographer – chances are your photographer has worked countless times with every type of child. I’m an expert at reading situations and personalities by now and have never not been able to photograph a child with their sibling. I will usually suggest multiple things to help ease a child into the photoshoot if they are struggling to adjust.
5. Be prepared to have someone take the child elsewhere. 90-120 minutes is a long time to be in one place and toddlers have energy to burn. All of this will be discussed at the time of booking as how best to manage this.

As soon as you walk into my photography studio, you’ll be greeted with the smell of aromatherapy oils and the sounds of soft baby music. It’s a super calming environment! My studio has been crafted with relaxation at the heart of the design, I want it to feel like a baby spa. As soon as you walk through the door you’ll be offered a hot drinks, snacks so you can just relax, soak it all in and enjoy some quality time as a family together.
